Te Manahuna Aoraki is a nationally significant conservation project focused on restoring the iconic natural landscapes and threatened species of the upper Mackenzie Basin and Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.
Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is a rugged land of ice and rock, with 19 peaks over 3,000 metres including New Zealand's highest mountain, Aoraki/Mount Cook.
Kakī, or black stilt, is a native wading bird only found in New Zealand. It is regarded by Māori as a taonga species – a living treasure.
